What Venue Do You Miss The Most?

Thursday August 6th 2009

Sorry for the delay, i caught the common cold over the weekend and is now getting over it. But nonetheless, here's last weeks breakdown as reported to me.

First is Tonic Lives Playground - Get Lei'd Edition. I may have to comeback and reedit this a few times as i have received clashing information. One writer stated that they were really "bored". My other writer on the other hand told me it was quite packed looking similar to last weeks event at NV. But both writers agree there was minimal dancing and alotta picture taking...once again. It seems like the same people go to NV everyweek, so im not really expecting any big fluctuation in attendence. Not a bad party. I wouldnt call it great but it was good enough for Tonic. Official numbers to come later.

BayHype is back at Glaskat with Exclusive. It was reported to me that glaskat was filled with a more aggressive crowd than usual. Reports of fights broke out here and there, including one girl fight i wish i didnt miss! Someone give me more details on this fight, i love a good cat fight lol. This party had slower lines not common to Bayhype, but no major complants besides the fights. Not packed, but acceptable. No numbers yet. Overall, a fairly decent party with its ups and downs.

I have alotta questions about the future of this industry. It doesnt have anything to do with these companies or parties. It just makes me wonder. It seems like the prime of the industry has already passed and now its just a struggle to survive. Alotta companies leaving or branching off or just disappearing. And with that, alotta new companies. I see the sidechat and everything stated is duely noted. I have some words of advice to new companies, and i mean new companies like New Era, for example. They're actually a good example for this. New companies shouldnt try so hard to be greater than possible at this moment. Use these first couple parties to help build a name, success doesnt happen over night. So what if a company throws one good party that theyve promote for months ahead. A great company has the ability to confidently throw a party with less than a month of promoting. But i think ill continue this later. I seem to be rambling and i completely went off track of this whole entry.

Anyway, to summarize this week in one word, average. We've all seen these companies do better and we all know that a great party in due for Tonic and high expectation are setup for Bayhype in the upcoming parties. Tonic needs get back to his hardworking promoting self from back in the days if he wants to survive. Bayhype seems like theyve been consistant on their own. Look out for TonicLives weekly Playground at NV, next week being CEO's and SEXY SECRETARIES hosted By New Era. And Bayhype with WETTER @ Glaskat August 20th.

Next Week Parties:
Breaking Point, Uprising & Blackout - SUPER FREAK Lingerie Edition

Comments and Opinions are always welcomed. And i expect the sidechat to blow up once again.
Expect another post this week before the events for some personal updates and more gossip. I have some juicy info leaked to me, im waiting for confirmation before i speak on it. =]

Thursday July 30th 2009

There was so much hype on these upcoming parties, it was ridiculous. And i must say before i start, congratulations to Breaking Point for hitting the 1 year milestone and of course for New Era, on their launch party, welcome to hell, i mean this wonderful industry lol. Now down to business.

I will start with "Summer Nights" Breaking Points 1 Year Anniversary Party at Kellys Mission Rock simply because they won the previous poll that i so strategically planned out. When i first arrived, around 11ish, the lines were terribly long, longest i've seen at Mission Rock in a long time. And with me being lazy and forgeting to wear a long shirt, i ventured to NV first to meet up my other partner. Upon returning to Mission Rock, the lines were still long, but were now divided into two lines. I quickly rushed inside to check it out. I walked up the stairs and was already stunned by the number of people on the outside porch. Inside seemed to be decent, packed to pretty much the back of the dance floor. Top floor I estimated around 500+ maybe 550+ maybe a close 600+. Downstairs, eh, like 100. So this brings the estimated total to around the 700 mark. According to Twitter, the official number is 811, presented by Breaking Point. They also had a handful of performers, Bailey, Kafani, Laroo, Matt Blaque, BeedaWeeda, Sleepy D, and some guy name Dog or Doog.  Not bad performances at all. The Dj was doing an great job at keeping the crowd hype throughout the performances, where most performers usually start to lose the crowd half way thru. So overall, great party, perfect way to celebrate their one year anniversary. Banging gogo's by the way. And once again, good job and congratulations Breaking Point!

Next on the list is New Era's Official Launch Party at NV (Club 525) hosted by Tonic. Now those expecting a the same low numbers by Tonic were wrong to assume.  Not completely wrong but eh. Let me explain lol. When i arrived to NV, lines were short and bare. I got inside and wasn't too impressed. But little by little people started to come in. This party kinda confused me a little. I dont know why. It seemed like alot of people, but there were alotta holes in the crowd.  I also noticed that Andrew Ho had a long line behind him for people trying to take pictures. Never seen that before. Ive also never seen so many people just standing around either not dancing or dancing by themselves, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Hmmm i cant really give a time, but the first fight broke out and i had a hunch this was a good time to leave, so i did. I left my partners behind so they could fill me in on the rest of what happened that night. According to them, the headline should be, FIGHTS FIGHTS FIGHTS AND WTF?. If youre wondering what the "WTF" is for, check out the gogos. Um. Hate to bust people out, but how do 16, 17 year old girls end up gogoing on stage. I feel an Akon situation coming. And wasn't this the gogo off of Roastlist? LOL. A former Breaking Point gogo, i saw her a Underworld event, and now at Tonic/New Era event, shes gogo'd for almost every company and i heard shes not even 18? I can't even talk about her and her friend, i felt like just looking at them i should go to jail.Ugh, ANYWAY. Now this is where the controversy kinda struck for me. My partners said, "No more than 500+ on the floor" But, the official number i saw posted was 800+. Now it seems 800 was the number to post for that night. I trust my partners with their estimations, but its interesting wondering why someone would post false numbers when i have people trying to convince me that there were less than 600 people there. I don't know, im not the industry judge. So i say, believe what you want, but its hard for me to find someone who is not a promoter to agree that there was 800+ people there.  But i heard people had fun, and honestly thats all that matters. Regardless of all the rumors, New Era had a good night, congrats and welcome to the industry.

Next is Underworlds Party called.....SUMMER NIGHTS? Interesting. But oh wait? Didnt Breaking Point branch off of Underworld? So im guessing this was a cheap shot at them. And as for this party, ummmm.  Dam, next strategy! Underworld tried. Failed. But tried.

Now, I refuse to announce a winner for this week, because I know that no matter what i say, somebody is gonna argue that i'm wrong, that my OPINIONS are wrong. The definition of "crackin" is all based on your own personal taste. Someone might enjoy a Tonic party over everybody else regardless of the crowd, and that person will comeback every week no matter what. Or someone might like crowded floors and think a capacity party is "cracking" Some people complain partys are too crowded but then go to a party with more room and say that its hella boring. All i ask is try arguing both sides with yourself first, before you make your statements about a company or party. I can write all day on this subject! I think maybe sometime during the week if i have time i will comeback and retouch on this subject. So i end it with this, go to a party to have fun, as a customer, dont worry about the crowd so much, you should be there for your own personal gain.

I'll do another poll so for fun! =)

Next Weeks Parties:
BayHype - Exclusive @ Glaskat
Tonic Live - Playground Get Lei'd Edition @ NV (CLub 525)

And also, I was wondering if companies CEO's or representatives can hit me up. I wanna know if its possible if you can throw the website onto your flyers or into your promoting systems. Just a thought. This whole blog is dedicated to all the companies. If i can get enough supporters, i will post more blogs to help with your promotions as well. Im down to put flyers and logos up on the page, i just ask for a little support thats all. =) Thanx

July 23rd 2009

So there was only one event that night (only one in SF that is, there was illusions that night, but i didnt cover it)

TonicLive had their weekly party at NV, this one being called, Wet and Wild. I arrived late but i was still able to see the wet tshirt contest which i found out was rigged! grrrr. its ok tho. Out of 3 pairs of boobs i saw 4 nipples and only 2 of those were worth seeing. The winner had a bra on =( disappointing. But its alright i guess. 400+ ppl. Not a bad turn out for TonicLive. Its the best they have done in a while and they did have the only SF party.

Everybody seems to be waiting for next thursday. I was just updated on this whole july 30th mayhem thats about unfold, and wow, what a story. And from the looks of that side chat, we have a heated battle brewing. If yall dont know what im talking about, im talking about Mission Rock vs. Club 525, Breaking Point vs New Era, 1Year Anniversary Party vs. Launch Party. And oh yeah apparently Underworld too with their "Summer Nights" @ Glaskat, which by the way, is different than Breaking Points "Summer Nights" @ Mission Rock.

Hm...what else to talk about, only having one event makes this too short so lets do some gossiping.

You cant tell me this sidechat wasnt an awesome idea. Its so entertaining! Lol. So lets see. It seems alota people dislike New Era Ent. and theyre not even launched yet! Lol sucks to be them, Alotta pressure to succeed under Tonics shadow.

Hmm what else...
Lets Stir up some drama with an exciting poll!
YOU ONLY HAVE 2 DAYS TO VOTE! SO VOTE NOW!!

Thursday July 16th 2009

There were 3 events that night...BayHype at Glaskat, Underworld at Mission Rock, and of course TonicLive at Club 525(NV)

I'll let Underworld go first since they barely make this blog. Well, maybe they shouldnt go first. There was very little to say about this party. The numbers i'm receiving are putting the event around an average of 100ppl attended. But again i must say this, whens the last time you attended a packed 18+ mission rock party? But you may be asking, "wasnt SuperCrew supposed to be there?" That was my question exactly. My inside source says they cancelled on their appearance for that night and the night after at Illusions. Oh well, maybe Underworld has some more tricks up their sleeve? Eh.
And im not quite sure when the next Underworld party is. Rumor says this thursday, but i see no promotions for it. So can somebody update me on this.

TonicLive had their weekly "Playground" events at Club 525 or Club NV whatever you want to call it. And once again, the dancefloor lacked people. Tonic needs to think of something quick before his reputation is completely tarnished. Im sure something big is coming up for Tonic thats going to rise them back up from the dead and make them top company competitors. Maybe adding NEW ERA will help them. LOL! I only brought that up because of the sidechat over there ---->
I have no opinion on that subject. I'll wait until that date to make my comments.
But yeah anyway, back to business. Official numbers? I dont have it, but sources say, approx.150. So it looks like by comparison they beat out Underworld! Not a big accomplishment but hey, at least we know Tonic isnt on the bottom this week. TonicLives next party is next week of course, Wet & Wild at Club 525.
OMG i almost forgot. Wasn't this party called BEST PARTY EVER. Oh man, I told myself i would rip on this party if it wasn't the Best Party Ever. And, sorry Tonic,as much respect i have for you, it definitely wasn't the Best Party Ever =( Maybe adding New Era would be better than adding iRock to your parties. iRock also had illusions saturday i think. Well my friend went and said it was boring so um sorry nothing positive to say about irock this week! LOL Ok ok ok no more smack talking from my end. You guys are lucky i dont let my other writers access to this blog directly because man, theyre harsh! But i'm the nice one =) Whooohoooo! Best Party Ever, gotta love it.

Lastly, BayHype had Sugar 2.0 @ the much loved and hated Glaskat. I hear so many complaints about Glaskat, yet so many people come back for more. And if you dont know why people keep coming back then you should have been there this week. Thats 2 weeks back to back, i believe, that Glaskat had to cut off the line and close the doors around midnight. Hmmmm does that put BayHype Breaking Point Uprising & Blackout as the top companies?? I'm not gonna answer that. I just wanna see if that statement will stir up some gossip =P Yes, I am evil like that!LOL!
Anyway, back to the topic. Just like every other BayHype party, packed dance floors and "darker" crowds. But hey, nothing like a little diversity to mix it up right. At least theres no Majorities in this mixed crowd. Now when I showed up, this line was freaking looooong. Even was able to grab some lip gloss for the misses =].
But yes, this party was a good implication on how BayHype is doing on throwing parties by themselves with no help. Next party for BayHype is "Exclusive" August 6th @ Glaskat. And oh man! forgot to say, was there an ambulance outside? WTFeezy happened? I'm noisy, somebody tell me what happened.

Next Week It Looks Like Tonic is by themselves with WET & WILD @ Club 525, since i see no proof of a Glaskat party. Oh btw, next thursday at NV is a wet tshirt contest. If i go, the ladies must promise to wear white shirts with NO bras!LOL!

And once again. ROASTLIST.COM IS FREAKING HILARIOUS!! I feel like roasting someone. Hmmmmm. Who should i choose. Muahahahaha.

Oh and another note. Can CEO's or anyone from every company send me logos so I can post them up in a special sections i will be making soon. And again, no hard feelings irock, you set yourself up for that rant.
Thanks!

Thursday July 9th

White Attire Affair Vs. Flashing Lights

Club 535 (NV) presented White Attire Affair and of course, hosted by Tonic. Umm rumor has it that there were only 5ppl there but that was only verified by the security guards. After a quick drive by NV i saw no lines and nobody really around, so, off to glaskat i go!

Flashing Lights presented by Breaking Point Uprising and Blackout. The line at 11pm surprised me actually, no lie. This line was alot longer than me and my other writers expected, no offense but these companies arent known for long lines, at least to us. Upon entering glaskat i was handed my glowsticks and entered the much too familiar glaskat. it wasnt bad at first but around 1230ish i noticed they werent letting people in anymore. i left the bar area and oh man, this was definitely a sold out party. A very diverse crowd which a good ratio between guys & girls and between boppers & well everyone else. My only main concern is that im hoping these gogos werent paid. It was confusing seeing them up there for 5mins turn around and all of a sudden theyre gone. I think i counted 6 gogos but couldnt really tell between all the stripper moves and all the rapid movements that i can i barely can call dancing. At one point the stage was swarmed by people and suddenly i saw gogos on top of guys laying down. wtf. is this a strip club. well i think thats enough gogo bashing for one blog, i can always just wait for the next one =) cmon gogos! prove me wrong!!! Breaking Points next party will be July 30th at KMR for their ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY.

This week was a one sided battle, but knowing tonic, they will do something and somehow be right back in the mix. So its all good.

Next Week we have, BayHype at Glaskat with Sugar 2.0, Underworld and GCode at KMR with Stars and Stripes, & Tonic and iRoc (LOL) at NV with Best Party Ever.

And before we get to the voting, i hope by now everyone has visited Roastlist.com! The shit is hilarious. You bay area gogos better be on your best behavior because they are pickin yall off like flys! Read it and Enjoy!

July 2nd 3rd & 4th

So after my vacation, i come back to alota critics with both positive and negative views on my blog. bottom line is, if you enjoy it then thank you, if not, then dont read it. i've never heard of having wrong opinions. but neway, down to business.

July 2nd 2009
At Glaskat was Bayhype with their VIP EXCLUSIVE. At NV (Club525) was TonicLive with MASSIVE their 4th of July PRE-Party.

First is Glaskat, because i was there =). Now this is the first time ive been to a party where the company guarenteed 600+ ppl (i prefer the modest companies) but with the respect bayhype has earned, this party did not fail. although the guy to girl ratio was still off, it was definitely better than the usual bayhype glaskat party. the bar may look like a ghost town but u couldnt tell from the dance floor. With my excellent estimating skills(LOL), i say around 500+ ppl there. and again hit me with the correct numbers if you have so i can give credit where credit is due. my final quote for that night is, "NOBODY DOES BOPPER BETTER!"
Bayhypes next party is July 16th called "sugar 2.0"...sounds like another "walk it out" situation to me =)

Next is Club525. The official number is 250+, coming straight from Mr.Tonic himself. Direct quote from Mr.Tonic,

"But still too slow for me.I rather have 200 hotties than a 1000 hood cats"

At least he's honest about his party. and like i said i would do, i will say writer3 was at the party with the confirmation that it was 250+ ppl. I guess doing every week at one place can have that effect right. Theres not alotta weekly parties that have high populations consistantly, which could say why not alotta companies do weekly parties. But again, that is just my opinion on the matter. takes alotta humility to accept the results and run with it. anyway, can anyone guess when the next tonic party is? .....THATS RIGHT! Next Week right back at 525 "White Attire Affair" with the lovely ladies of aKDPHI.

July 3rd 2009
Underworld presents HIGH SOCIETY at Kellys Mission Rock.
Ummm...if i said typical underworld party would yall understand that? LOL yah nothing special. 200? maybe, and im being generous with that number. i dont know how to say this nicely but, damn they miss bay function!LOL
Next Underworld Party is "Stars and Stripes" @ Mission Rock July 16th. With SuperCrew there, that alone should bring ppl right? right...?

July 4th 2009
Alotta parties this weekend leading up to the 4th of july!
Nexus 5 Year Anniversary @ Mission Rock! I decided to stop by after watching some fireworks. Too bad it didnt make it the whole night. But lets not focus on the party stopping fight, and lets focus on the party instead. ok the fight was actually more interesting than this party. Turn out wasnt any different than Underworlds the night before. But at least they had a handful of gogos you can watch =) eye candy is always nice. And since ive seen zero flyers i dont know when the next Nexus party is, but since GCode hosted it i can say, "Stars and Stripes"..haha thats double promotions! cheaters...

So that covers the 4th of july weekend in SF! I am no longer covering Abyss or any southbay venue since this is technically a SF INDUSTRY blog.
Oh and on another note, this sidechat, everyone is getting outta pocket here (including my own writers). so lets leave this chat for ppl who wanna be here not ppl who only comeback just to respond to the chat. We all should be adults here so lets act like it. and for those who havent read it, oh man u should go back and read it, its a good way to kill time during work!

and i leave with this quote!

"Every promoter will always say their parties are the best because they lack humilty. Egos too big that's why they won't last"

Friday June 19th?

I completely forgot about Abyss Friday, so ima have to do more research and complete this later.
Send me numbers, pictures, logos anything to help with this one. thanks

Thursday June 18th 2009

Ok so I'm here with another late update. The events that should be covered are, The Playground @ Club NV, Sugar @ Glaskat and Eclipse @ Abyss.

First, The Playground. Didn't hear much from this party, so i'm just expecting the normal Tonic Live crowd with the normal Tonic Live numbers, that is, until i get word of a official number.

Sugar, hosted by BayHype is next. At first I expected the normal Bayhype, the long lines and crowded dance floors, but they over exceeded my expectations on this one. Long lines that stayed until 12 - 1230 when they finally hit capacity and closed the doors. Overall a very good party which is what everyone expected from Bayhype party. Still dont have a official number, but i will update this as soon as i get one.

Eclipse, The Official Pre-Launch Party of Eclipse Ent. With so many new companies we don't expect everyone to start off good. I mean really, theres only so many companies that are able to stick around for a long time, you got your TonicLive, BayHype (formally BayFunction), iRock (formally RockTheBay), and Underworld who recently have been hanging on by a thread, and then you got your rising stars that have made it thru a year, your BreakingPoints and Uprising. But Eclipse showed that they are a force to be reckoned with. Everyone loves abyss so the normal people will show up, but being able to really fill it up is something different. And from what everyone has told me and all the pictures i saw, this was definatly a southbay event you should not have missed. Can't wait to see what they do for their Launch Party. Good Luck Eclipse Ent.

And on another note, I'm reading this side chat, and i guess you can say, there are alotta stong opinions. What i need to make clear is that this blog was made to be informative, ive always made this open to the public to tell me their opinions and fill me in if i missed anything or if i made a mistake. And to say these are just the asian companies, then show me other 18+ that pull and i'll be glad to cover those. Plus isnt SanFrancisco like 80% asian. Im not here to talk shit about all the companies, and a certain person immaturely confronted me about my blog, so i will gladly stop mentioning them in this blog. All the companies should take this information as, this is what the customers see. Of course everyone is gonna think their own party was the better one, so knock yourself down a notch and just accept that everybody has good parties and everyone has bad parties.

But back to business, Next Week we have Tonic vs. Underworld! The Playground vs. Boogie Bots. And the word on the street is that Boogie Bots wont be there! Well you're gonna have to wait and see!

and like usually...send me pictures and logos. comments are always welcomed.

Thursday June 11th 2009

Ok sorry for taking so long but this one was a little more difficult to do. I didnt know that many people that went to NV and i got mixed reviews about Mist. So i am going to write what i know and yall can correct me if i wrong.

Start with Club NV or Club 525 or whatever its called now, hosted by Tonic Live. I think this one was called, Little Black Dress Affair. And from the word on the streets about 50 - 100 people were there, give or take. Once again i'm not sure, just what i heard. And if you read my last post, i said NV is about a 1500+ capacity, 50-100 people isn't so hot.
(*EDIT* Just got official numbers for the event...206...thats alot better than 50!)
But on another note, TonicLive was also in Sac at Empire. And by the sounds of it and by the expectations of it, that did very well.

Uprising had the other event in SF that night at Mist Ultra Lounge (formally Loft11), called SummerTime inthe SFC. I heard this event started very slow, with the top floor not open until late into the night. But eventually the top floor openned and the place started to fill. Although this is just a rumor, i heard that alot of people from NV eventually came to Mist, but i must repeat, a rumor.

And again information is very limited this week, for i have gotten very little feedback from my reliable sources. But next week for sure i will check out "Bow Ties & Miniskirts" @ Club 525 and "Sugar" @ Glaskat.

Oh and like how i ended my last post, Abyss wasn't too bad. Seems like Ralph Nader is hanging in there huh lol.

Ok so now i leave with this. If anyone has anymore info about these past events, anything from, numbers (official or estimates), pictures or just any feedback, please feel free to leave a comment.

Thursday June 4th 2009 ; Industry or Twitter

If you haven't heard, a handful of companies come together every 1st thursday at the infamously played out "Glaskat", and due to high demand, we will start with this event.

"Industry Nights", as its called every 1st thursday, was hosted by NxLevel, BayHype, Breaking Point, Rukus, Bay Funktion Ent, & Phoenix Sounds. Although the taco to sausage ratio was low, it was an average party with your average quirks, packed dance floor and a mediocer bar. I would say this was a party not to miss, but then again, you can just come back July 2nd and experience it all over again.

Tonic Live hosted one of the most clever ideas for an event so far, "Twitter Party".
If you're a person that says, "its about quality not quantity", then this was the party for you. With a 1500+ capacity, about 25% of the venue was full. On the upside, 85% of that 25% were female. This I must say, in my own opinion, was the complete opposite of "Industry Nights". It was "girls vs guys", "quality vs quantity", a real classic Tonic vs The World.

I can't appoint a winner this week, so i'll let the viewers decide. Dont forget about RockTheBays or iRoc's weekly "$3 Thursday" @ Abyss in Sunnyvale. Although in Sunnyvale, this party serves as the "Ralph Nader" of this industry (no offense)

(if you have crowd shots for any of these parties, Email Them To Me! so i can post em!)
